hey hey! the weekend is almost upon us and it’s been hot as hell here in los angeles – i must check on my good pal lisa who lives in pennsylvania – it is flood central over there! floods on the east coast…fires on the west coast – oh good times! this week’s ‘mashup of the week’ picked for popbytes by one of our favorite DJs paul v. who also thinks the heat is out of control here in LA selected an approriately suited mashup for this week…enjoy! popbytes over & out for now…xxoo!

Since I live in LA (and right now I’m melting like a candybar on a windowsill with this heatwave we’re having), this week’s mix was picked with meteorological inspiration – and sticky fingers. It’s created by mixer CCC in the UK, mashing up the Motown strains of Martha & The Vandellas’ “Heatwave” with the 1971 prog-rock swirl of Pink Floyd’s “One Of These Days.” It starts off ever so eerily, then unleashes Martha’s diva wail like she’s frontin’ a bad-ass Detroit underground band. It rocks!
