rip wendie jo sperber

actress wendie jo sperber at age 46 lost her battle with cancer – best remembered as opposite tom hanks on that wild 80′s sitcom bosom buddies

mr. hanks had this to say the memory of wendie jo is that of a walking inspiration. she met the challenges of her illness with love, cheer, joy and altruism. we are going to miss her as surely as we are all better for knowing her.

damn those TV cancellations!

oh it’s all fun and games in the beginning of the fall when a bunch of new television shows try to grab our attention & viewership – the buzz is everywhere but then around this time of year – the cancellations start to flow in…shows lay slain in the gutter…i am very upset about two shows being cancelled (and soon there will be a very big third upset if FOX does indeed pull the plug on arrested development – which i know they will)

first up is reunion – okay i admit this show is a drop cheesy – but the storyline is so damn addictive – i don’t know if i can bear not finding how the whole thing wraps up – i’m a bit surprised with the big ‘OC’ lead-in that this show didn’t fare better in the ratings war – plus what a neat concept for a show (very quickly it’s about a group of high school student friends involved in a murder mystery – that spans 20 years from their graduation up until the present – each episode is one year – told via flashbacks from the present) – the music was also great as they went by each year – there will still be some more episodes airing on FOX (like tomorrow night) – i really hope they let this season play out its 20 episodes…we shall see – at least let them play out on DVD…i need to know what happens!

second up is the apprentice: martha stewart – personally i got so sick of watching donald trump do this show – so i found martha stewart to be refreshing and a nice switch up – i really think what killed it was the fact that donald also ran a new season in tandem with martha – so two nights of ‘the apprentice’ is simply too much – and i think martha just got slaughtered like a sacrificial lamb – but if you have been watching (it’s on tonight) – the tasks have been interesting – and honestly i just enjoy martha (i dig her daughter too) – i especially adore how martha writes goodbye letters to the person who leaves at the end of week – additionally the show theme song of eurythmics sweet dreams was just the icing on the cake – i will be sad to see this go…and trump can go screw himself – next season he will be doing his show from the west coast – a lame attempt to reinvigorate his show…oh my martha – you carry on girl!

i am also mildly peeved about ABC cancelling alias – but i think it’s five year run was enough – i think the 2nd & 3rd seasons best – especially any episodes with lena olin – she is so wickedly cool – i hope they bring her back for the big series finale – and damn jennifer garner is a house waiting to drop – she must have like 10 babies in her ‘affleck infected’ belly – i guess they all must arrive oh so soon…will be very interesting to see where garner’s career goes after this…up or down?!?

but there is still good tv people – besides my favorite show nip/tuck (which is just crazy at the moment – kimber is being held hostage by the carver – oh my!) – i really adore grey’s anatomy – i swear this show is totally tops – and patrick dempsey is so my boyfriend – he just doesn’t know it yet…

anyways yeah it is the end of november and i had my most unique visitors this month ever – it’s a good steady climb and i am in for the long haul (everyday my friend ckeveryday! i so thank you for that bit of inspiration – it so helps) – i can’t believe how the time is flying – i will be back tomorrow to ring in december – rock on – much love to all as always – xxoo

PS cancellations are the reason why i stick with shows like days of our lives…40 years later and still on!

other TV cancellations include:

threshold, hot properties, night stalker, inconceivable, head cases, kitchen confidential, ‘sex, love & secrets’, just legal

lady in the water

well hello on a tuesday! so this is a fun little pop detour…the teaser trailer has been posted for the upcoming spooky m. night shyamalan film lady in the water – being billed as ‘a bedtime story’ – i just can’t wait to learn more – the trailer is kinda cryptic & mysterious but for sure makes you want to see the film when it hits theaters in the summer of 2006 – it stars paul giamatti (sideways) and bryce dallas howard (the village) – both excellent actors – and with shyamalan at the helm – i think we can all expect good things…hopefully! i will keep you all in the loop as this movie edges towards release – we have some time people – it is a bit far off…i think a slow building buzz (starting with the blogs ;) is best – so rock & blog on – sorry for the short post today – it was a hectic day and just got back from dinner over at VERT (hollywood/highland) with a few good friends – so i am just beat but my beloved nip/tuck is on tonight…so that makes me extra happy! check you all tomorrow – xxoo

Cleveland Heep (Giamatti) rescues a mysterious young woman (Dallas Howard) and discovers she is actually a narf, a character from a bedtime story who is trying to make the treacherous journey from our world back to hers. As Cleveland falls in love with the woman, he works together with the tenants to protect his new fragile friend from the deadly creatures that are determined to prevent her from returning home.

oh that brooklyn bunny!

hey hey! oh this monday who could deal?!? i wanted to give a shout-out today to one of my sponsors here on popbytes – if you haven’t yet checked out brooklyn bunny – it is a must visit – a live webcam of two adorable bunnies (yes real-life rabbits) living in a brooklyn apartment – updated constantly all day long you can track the daily grind in the life of two sweet little bunnies – as we all know popbytes is a huge animal lover – so when i came across this i fell in love immediately – i also just thought the site was so clever and quite well designed – i just got my brooklyn bunny tee-shirt in the mail today along with a groovy magnet for my fridge – i for sure will be wearing the shirt tomorrow – so keep your eyes open around hollywood for this ‘pop brooklyn bunny’ – i so love & miss brooklyn so this makes me feel just a drop closer to home…rock on – i will be back tomorrow – xxoo

Brooklyn Bunny was inspired by our former pet rabbit “Bun.” He lived with us for many years in our Greenpoint, Brooklyn apartment. After his passing in February of 2005, we thought that we may never get another pet. Several months later, we thought it may be a good idea to start a rabbit sitting service. In the middle of setting up our website, we received an email from a friend with a photo of the cutest white bunny who needed a home. We were offered a weekend bunny test-drive. Our door bell rang and the rest is history.

days of our lives does 40!

well hello hello hello! yup it’s true – the sands in that famous hourglass have been running now for over forty years! days of our lives first aired nov 8th 1965 on NBC and is still going strong today – i must admit (although some of you do know already) that i have been watching ‘days’ for about 13 years now! it sounds crazy to try to keep up with a soap in this day & age but with my trusty tivo and my love of all things ‘salem’ – i have kept up with all the many (oh so many) trials & tribulations of the hortons and bradys – i guess it’s like a warm cozy blanket that is always there but now the producers of the show are in negotiations with NBC and they haven’t gone well in the past – so i hope they can work it out to keep ‘days’ going for another forty years – i know i would be devestated if it went off the air – that’s also another reason i watch – i can be fairly certain that i can safely invest myself and count on ‘days’ to be a familiar constant in my life unlike some other shows that you grow to love but then get yanked (like twin peaks, arrested development (soon to be a goner – i know it) & our beloved the comeback to name just a few…) – although they are celebrating 40 yrs – i think the show is in a bit of a storyline slump at the moment but that’s always how ‘days’ goes – sometimes it’s great and sometimes not but i will stick by it as long as it’s on…on another note i am so bummed that the holiday weekend is over – work tomorrow will be a complete drag but soon enough xmas and new years will be here – then in january i take the big jump and turn thirty!?! oh how the pop time does fly – rock on and i will be back tomorrow for my latest monday .mp3 – i already picked it out and the track promises to be a good one! xxoo

final destination 3!

oh i’m so excited for the third installment of those super scary horror flicks final destination – i just came across the teaser trailer for number three which lands in theaters on feb 10th (perfect valentines day date movie!) – and gosh it looks scary as hell – i love all the inventive ways they whack people off in these films – this one features a runaway rollercoaster – what could be scarier?!? i actually love rollercoasters but not ones that go off track – that would be frightening! but even more scary is that it cooled off today in los angeles – and it’s super windy – walking my dogs tonight i thought they might blow away plus i hate that it gets darker earlier but it is a perfect saturday night to catch a movie & stay warm (i’m gonna play catch-up and watch the life aquatic with steve zissou) – rock on – i will be back tomorrow for the last day of this lovely four day holiday weekend…xxoo

two small celeb sightings

ah how very fitting that on the day i post you know you’re from socal when… that i run into two random ‘celebs’ in totally different places…neither i felt the need to approach – just planned on making note of it here on popbytes!

first up was ross the intern – if you watch jay leno then you will know who he is – he is super hysterical – i absolutely love his bits on ‘the tonight show’- he was shopping with three gals over at DIESEL (hands-down favorite clothes – ever) in lovely pasadena (reminds me of my days in brooklyn heights – kinda) – they were browsing jeans & i spotted him a mile away as he & his personality aren’t hard to miss…

second was actress katey sagal – who was shopping with her kids at trader joes (which i just adore – awesome food & not so $$$) over in studio city (the only place i could live in the valley – that is if i had to live in the valley) – as soon as i walked in i immediately was like – oh there’s ‘peg bundy’ (married with children) – it’s so funny how these random people just pop up as you go about your day in socal! i just love it! anyways i am out till tomorrow – i hope you all got some good holiday bargains! have a great rest of your friday night – xxoo
