After an amazing five minutes of the season's recap, we finally leap
back to the race and discover Rob and Amber have left the building at
2:47 AM. They're in London right now, and the clue yells at them to go
to Kingston, Jamaica. That's pretty cool, mon [harhar].
Followed by Ron and Kelly at 4:26 AM and Uchenna and Joyce at 4:41 AM,
Rob and Amber manage to snag a 12:40 flight that will eventually carry
all the teams to good ol' Jamaica.
In Jamaica, there's lots of xylophoning and steel drumming as people
dance around and become happy. It's all very kind and sweet. I love how
the Editors and Producers of TAR show the countries being all happy. It
makes the world seem like a better place. Sigh.
This leg is a short one. A limbo task, which will determine at which
time teams may depart the following morning, is the roadblock that
Joyce, Amber, and Kelly defeat. Rob, Amber, Ron, and Kelly all leave at
8:15 the next morning, with Uchenna and Joyce trailing 15 minutes behind
them.
The detour is a choice between riding a raft and building a raft. All
the teams choose to build the raft, after which they must cross the
river and retrieve a clue. Everyone does it successfully, despite the
constant bickering on Ron and Kelly's part.
The pit stop is Montego Bay. On the way there, Uchenna and Joyce suffer
a flat tire that pushes them behind quite a bit. Heretofore on the leg,
they were in first place. Unfortunately, they check-in last and have all
their possessions and money taken away. Which sucks because this is the
last leg. STUPID CAR.
The next leg is exciting, exciting, exciting! It's the last leg of the
race and everyone seems pumped up to get to the finish line. Rob and
Amber are extremely confident that they will win and I secretly hoped
that a volcano or something would erupt and dump all its lava on Rob's
head. They DO have volcanoes in Jamaica, don't they?
Rob and Amber and Ron and Kelly, who checked in at almost the same time,
leave at 2:37 and 2:38 AM, respectively. Uchenna and Joyce trail by a
good ten minutes.
The clue tells the teams to get to Lucea, where they will have to chop
up onions. Crying ensues on Joyce's part, but not because of the onions.
Remember, they had all their money taken away and had to start the leg
with zero dollars towards them. They go to the airport to beg for money,
and mon, begging must suck. They're turned down multiple times and Joyce
gets quite upset. They, however, eventually get enough money to get them
to where they need to be.
After the onion task is chopped up and put away (pun!), teams have to
either Pony Up or Tee it Up at the Rose Hall. Everyone chooses to golf,
which is Tee it Up. They have to hit a 16ft area 140 yards away with a
golf ball. It's pretty easy for everyone.
The roadblock is a jumping task way off in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I love
the last leg, because teams are always changing cities and locales all
the time. It's so worldly. The roadblock, as aforementioned, requires
someone to jump off a bridge. Seriously.
Amber, Uchenna, and Ron take the task.
And they jump and survive.
Now...to be even worldlier and to get back to the US, teams have to
travel to Miami, Florida. Woohoo. Rob and Amber snag a 10 AM flight
instead of a 11:15 AM flight, and just as the jetway is closing, Uchenna
and Joyce MAGNIFICENTLY get on the same flight. Thank. God. That was an
extra hour lead R&A didn't need.
In Miami, teams must go hither and thither and do this and that and then
get to a cigar shop. The trick is, the cigar shop's name is in Spanish
but was given to them in English. Confusion is a factor in Rob and
Amber's aimless searching, but thankfully Uchenna and Joyce had a
Spanish-speaking cab driver.
The last clue of the season instructs teams to travel to Fort
Lauderdale: The finish line.
On the way there, Uchenna and Joyce realize that they will not have
enough money to pay for the cab. Rob and Amber are right behind them (or
so it seems) and the tensions are really running high. At Fort
Lauderdale, Uchenna is running all over the place trying to find people
to help pay for the cab. Many people decline but some extremely nice
people give him some cash.
I was literally shaking in my seat while this was happening because the
Editors placed shots of Rob and Amber approaching over Uchenna's frantic
searching. It was SO tense. It was Amazing.
A couple minutes later, there's a lot of cheering and Uchenna and Joyce
are running toward the finish line. There's lots of crying and cheering
and happiness as Uchenna and Joyce are pronounced the winners of The
Amazing Race 7.
Rob and Amber come in second and Ron and Kelly arrive third.
Uchenna and Joyce, who I am thankful won the million dollar prize, plan
to have babies. Non stop. 24/7. I kid. They want more in-vitro. Rob and
Amber want to start a family and no one knows what the hell Ron and
Kelly want. Break-up papers, perhaps?
This season was amazing. The planning could have been better, but Rob
and Amber didn't win, which means this season was a success. I really
enjoyed recapping it, too, and I hope you enjoyed these recaps as much
as I did.
BY THE WAY, I also heard Lynn and Alex might be coming to Canada,
Toronto to be exact, to be married. However, I am unsure of this. I
heard it somewhere. But I'm sure we'll keep you up to date here at
popbytes with the latest news.
And be sure to check out
Rob and Amber get married airing on CBS on May 24th.
Just...don't get too in to it. Actually, don't watch it. Please. Don't.
