oh my pop boys & girls - check out the latest happenings on the amazing race! huge thanks mr. jon as per usual! it's great! and yes i agree it might be your best column yet - keep it coming! popbytes is just getting started! outtie for now! xxoo
Remember—there was no pit stop at the end of the last episode. Today, Rob and Amber arrive to Phil first, and he gives them the clue that reads “Travel to the train station across the street.” There, they will have to “wait” for their next clue. It turns out they must take a 24-hour train ride that doesn’t leave until 9 o’clock that night—it’s currently 1 PM or something. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
On the train, there is lots of sleeping and lounging. At 1 AM, some guy brings around everyone’s clue that tells them to search the train station for their next clue. However, there’s still about ten hours or so of train ride. Anyway, to make matters short: Teams have to go to the Sardar Market, WHICH DOESN’T OPEN UNTIL 10 AM. Which means, more stupid, stupid, stupid. Whoever planned this leg didn’t do a very good job. Shame, shame. And that’s complete with that silly finger brushing movement thing that I cannot put into words.
The next morning, the market opens and the teams get the Detour clue. It also comes with a fast forward, which Uchenna and Joyce take. The detour is Trunk or Dunk. Everyone chooses Trunk, wherein teams will have to transport a large, wooden elephant, so talking about Dunk would be pointless and would just waste my time.
Gretchen makes the mistake of sitting on top of the elephant, causing her and Meredith to slow down. And to make matters worse, she actually YELLS at people to get out of the way and YELLS and YELLS and YELLS for people to push. OKAY LADY, HOW ABOUT YOU GET OFF OF THE FRIGGEN ELEPHANT AND HELP PUSH YOURSELF INSTEAD OF COMPLAINING--ALL RIGHT IS EVERYTHING CLEAR? Hem hem. Anyway.
There are a couple more “go from point A to point B” clues, right up until the Roadblock clue: Someone will have to “steer [their] team in the right direction.” These “steerers” will complete a two-lap course while riding on a camel. Amber, Kelly, Lynn, and Meredith complete the Roadblock.
Meanwhile, Uchenna and Joyce arrive at the Fast Forward where they discover that they will have to have their heads shave. It’s no problem for Uchenna, whose head is already quite shiny, and it turns out Joyce has no objections to getting rid of her locks either. She looks quite nice bald, actually. Uchenna felt quite bad but Joyce was all, “huh! Imagine if the children I can’t have saw me like this!” But I kid and now I feel quite bad because well, that was just mean. Anyway.
The pit stop is Jaswant Thada (the spelling of that might be horrendously off). It’s a temple of some sort, but the pitstop itself seems to be on a large, rocky cliff that could cause the demise of a couple of teams or two.
Speaking of demise, Lynn and Alex check in last, and they are eliminated. They kiss and hug and say nice things.
1. Uchenna and Joyce
2. Ron and Kelly, Rob and Amber (tie)
3. Meredith and Gretchen
Next week: Kelly brings out her assumptions and judgments.
Prediction: I think Meredith and Gretchen, despite being excellent racers, are past their expiration date (no pun intended) and will fall behind. Which, of course, leaves us with three athletic and lovely-dovely teams in the final three. And aren’t there like, still five more weeks (or something) left to go?
