hey kids - more on the apprentice from last night from my pal dana (i just love having columnists!) - and it looks like she will be making it to the open call in philly (i just love philly btw) - check you all later!
"i have to admit, the hyped up last night's show all week and i was really preparing myself for the episode of all episodes, but i don't think it lived up to my expectations.
in this week's challenge, both teams needed to organize an event for Nescafe. team magna hired a professional event planner to help with the details that the team might not have been able to handle on their own. although this was a great idea (kudos to stephanie), danny the project manager for team magna had some trouble making timely decisions. although i absolutely love danny, he has trouble running his team with the conviction and aggressiveness mr. trump is looking for.
team net worth had angie in charge and pulled off a successful campaign with a patriotic feel. they even had a moc political campaign where professionals squared off on hot vs. cold coffee drinks. although team net worth won, my biggest complaint was that the americana theme wasn't on target with the Nescafe brand. what should be seen as a very european style coffee drink, was marketed in red white and blue, which i think creates confusion. but that's just my two cents.
another set back for team magna (which some may blame for the teams demise) was michael who held the exemption from last week's win. some felt that his lack of work ethic and integrity because he knew he couldn't be fired, made him a terrible asset for the team.
anyway, drama queen of the night goes to verna who couldn't take the heat and left the show in the first 10 minutes. i was only surprised by how there wasn't a lot of pomp and circumstance surrounding that tidbit.
but, i'm sad to say, it was danny who was fired...because ultimately, it's the project manager's responsibilty to manage his team...even if that means he needs to put one or two in the penalty box so they can't ruin it for everyone else.
my predictions -
• should magna lose again next week, i wouldn't be surprised if michael were fired based on his level of integrity this week.
• john, i'm still thinking you're going to take it all.
• and i think bren has a good shot to be in the final three for his team.

so, next week's previews look like there will be some heavy drama and excitement when both teams are pulled into the boardroom and someone offends someone...and it's all too much for me to take!!!
PS i'm headed to philadelphia on the 18th for the open casting call of the next apprentice (could be with martha or donald). wish me luck...and danny. i loved you, this one's for you.
Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide."
