For those of you who don’t know, a “twink” is a term gay men use for skinny little boys who, while legally over the age of 18, could easily pass for a fetus. Some guys like them, and some guys … not so much. It depends. Anyway, earlier today, Bravo’s Andy Cohen talked about accidentally walking into One Direction‘s green room, referring to them as “twinks,” and apparently this was somehow offensive enough to warrant an apology out of him. Entertainment Wise reports …
He said: “This morning, I went into the normal green room that we typically go into. I barged in, there are all these people in front of us. Oh, it’s all the leftover One Direction fans. I barged right into a room of twinks: One Direction! Security was not exactly too tight, with all due respect. I barged right in. It was crazy!”
The term “twinks” is said to be a slang word for young gay men and is deemed to be offensive and derogatory. However, Cohen didn’t just use the term in his interview. Minutes before going on set for his interview, Cohen tweeted : “No joke just walked right into One Direction greenroom!! The blond dude was shirtless #HolyTwink.” Taking to his Twitter page after reportedly getting tweets from One Direction fans who were unhappy with his comments, Cohen apologized saying: “Misused word earlier — I just meant they’re cute. #1D” But he has left his tweet from earlier still on his official page.
Okay, granted, whether Andy actually barged into One Direction’s dressing room or a neo-natal unit is still up for debate, but still, if it looks like a twink, walks like a twink, and acts like an entitled little brat, it’s a twink.
